UX mistakes that kill conversion

The leaks are rarely “the brand.” They are late asks, vague buttons, and forms that feel like work.

When a page does not convert, teams redesign the hero. We look at the last three clicks. That is where people decide the product is not for them.

Asking for trust before giving any

A full account, a calendar hold, or a 20-field form before the visitor has seen a result is a tax. Give a useful preview first. Collect only what the next step needs.

Buttons that describe the company, not the action

“Learn more” and “Submit” are placeholders. “See the pricing” and “Book a 20-minute intro” tell people what happens next. Ambiguity feels like risk.

Error states that blame the user

  • Show the field that failed, in language a person would say out loud.
  • Keep the rest of the form intact. Do not wipe a long message.
  • If the failure is ours — a timeout, a full calendar — say so.

Fix the leaks before you add another section to the homepage. Conversion is usually a path problem, not a poetry problem.
